Energy Efficiency

Our aims are to audit energy use, set targets for improvement and motivate and enable students and staff to conserve energy.

Fitzwilliam joined the Cambridge Climate Change Charter in 2008 and has recently registered with the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme.

Through our active Environment Committee we have worked with the Maintenance Department to:

• install low-energy light bulbs 
• install motion detector light switches 
• enable 'power down' and night-time 'shutdown' on all College computers, printers and photocopiers 
• ensure that all window replacements are double-glazed 
• install photosensitive outside lighting
• monitor the energy consumption of all buildings
