David Reddaway (History 1972) CMG, MBE, HM Ambassador, Turkey, has received the KCMG (Knight Commander of the Order of St George and St Michael) in the Queen’s birthday honours diplomatic list 2013, for services to British diplomacy and furthering UK interests in Turkey.
David Reddaway has been British Ambassador to Turkey since 2009. He was previously Ambassador to Ireland (2006-9); High Commissioner to Canada (2003-6); a Fellow at Harvard University (2002-3); UK Special Representative for Afghanistan (2002); and Charge d’Affaires in Iran - where he had earlier served during the Iranian Revolution – from 1990-3.
He is the grandson of W F Reddaway, Censor of Fitzwilliam 1907-1924. David also rowed in the first boat in 1973, 1974 and 1975, and for the Cambridge University Lightweight VIII in 1975.
