Sir David James Tyson Kitchin (Law 1976) took up his appointment as Lord Justice of Appeal on 5th October 2011, having been appointed to the High Court of Justice in October 2005, and serving as Chancery Supervising Judge for the Wales, Western and Midland Circuits since 2009.

Sir David initially studied Natural Sciences at Fitzwilliam before changing to Law in his final year. In 1977 he was called to the bar at Gray’s Inn, becoming a Queen’s Counsel in 1994.

He was also played golf for the College and coxed the University Blue Boat to victory against Oxford in the 1975 Boat Race.
