Having won a place on the course 'Foreign Policy and Decision Making', I spent one month at Yale during the summer of 2009. The Global Summer Programme is organized by the International Alliance of Research Universities, of which Cambridge and Yale are 2 members of 10. There were 16 students in my course, from very diverse backgrounds in terms of majors, universities and countries, so different opinions and angles could always be brought into our discussions. It's memorable to experience the student life of another top university. Academically, it was interesting to advance my knowledge of political science and the course has helped with my Tripos Paper 17, Development Policy and Economics. Another exciting element of the trip was a visit to the UN where we were privileged to hear presentations by two officials. I also took the chance to explore New York during my stay there, which was fascinating of course!
