Teachers' Conference: Supporting Cambridge Applicants

Fitzwilliam College | Wednesday 20 June 2012

Fitzwilliam College and Murray Edwards College would like to invite you to an intensive one-day conference for teachers and college lecturers. This conference is for all teachers and lecturers who advise students on applying to Cambridge as part of supporting their progression into Higher Education.

  Online booking form »

When booking please indicate your ‘school type'. Accommodation is free for those attending - please make it clear on your form whether you will require accommodation (see below).

You will receive a reply after the closing date of Friday 27 April 2012. Priority will be given to those schools with little experience of sending students to Cambridge. Further details will be sent out at the end of May by  the Murray Edwards College admissions office.

Programme

The aim of the conference is to provide you with very detailed information about the Cambridge admissions process, which continues to evolve, and about the subjects that the University offers - the proper and effective selection of which is so important to an applicant's chance of success.

The conference will follow the successful one-day format adopted last year. The conference will run from c. 10.00am to c. 4.00pm on Wednesday 20 June, and will include the following sessions:

  • Introduction to Cambridge
  • Admissions and interviews
  • Detailed subject information and advice
  • Q & A with current students

Our hope is that you will enjoy exploring Cambridge, finding out more about the University and exchanging ideas with us and our teaching/lecturing colleagues, and that you will leave very well informed about how best to advise those among your most able students who are considering applying to Cambridge. We very much hope you will be able to join us.

Overnight accommodation

Accommodation will be available in one of the colleges on the Tuesday night, for those who live too far from Cambridge to arrive in time for a 10am start on the Wednesday morning. Accommodation (on a overnight/B&B basis) is free to all those attending the conference.

Please note: because this year's conference is taking place within the undergraduate residence period, the amount of available accommodation will be limited and it may be necessary to give priority to those living furthest from Cambridge.
