Fitzwilliam College is committed to encouraging applications from all students who show real academic potential, regardless of social or educational background. The College does not simply want to encourage all students to apply to Cambridge - rather, the emphasis is on providing students with accurate and up-to-date information so that they can fulfil their own potential and apply to whichever Higher Education institution best suits them.
The College is also committed to providing resources and information to schools which do not have a history of sending students to Cambridge but which aspire to do so in the future. For this reason, Fitzwilliam College has a full-time Schools Liaison Officer (SLO).
Schools Liaison Officer
The Schools Liaison Officer (SLO) runs projects to encourage students to progress to Higher Education. The common factors in all these projects are that they provide up-to-date, accurate information, break down misconceptions about university life, and convey something of what being at university is really like.
The Schools Liaison Project offers several options for schools and groups interested in exploring the prospects and reality of higher education in general, and Cambridge in particular. These options include:
- Visits to Fitzwilliam College by school groups
- Visits to schools, colleges and further education institutions by the Schools Liaison Officer, current undergraduates, and Admissions Tutors
- Teachers' Conferences
If you would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact the Schools Liaison Officer at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone on 01223 332 063.
