Academic Funds
The following funds exist to support academic activities. Students may also be awarded Scholarships and Prizes for academic merit.
Fitzwilliam College Vacation Research Grants for Undergraduates
The Student Opportunities Fund supports a number of awards to defray the living costs and accommodation expenses of undergraduate students engaged in research projects or academic courses during the vacation. Applicants should apply through their Tutor, supported by their Director of Studies, and must also apply for any other support for which they are eligible (eg Departmental grants).
Fitzwilliam Trust Research Fund
Applications may be made for purposes directly concerned with research, including attendance at conferences. Applications from research students and undergraduates should be accompanied by a statement from their Supervisor or Director of Studies in justification. Applications cannot be accepted for expeditions and field-work which are a normal part of a research programme.
Your application form should be forwarded to the Master, once it is completed by all others as required.
Hirst Player Fund
Members of the College who have either taken or are intending to take Holy Orders in a Christian Church which is a member of the World Council of Churches are eligible to apply for a bursary in order to attend a particular conference or course or to undertake specified projects in connection with their training. Application forms may be obtained from the College Office, L11.
Edgar Palmer Fund
This fund was established to benefit members of the College with the object of furthering in the University post-graduate study or research in Medicine or in any allied Biological subject. Any graduate of a University of the British Commonwealth who is a member of the College shall be eligible for an award from this Fund, but preference will be given to graduates who are citizens of Australia. Grants may be made for research or travel or for such other purposes as are deemed fit.

Ilsley Fund
Members of the College reading History are eligible to apply for a grant from the Fund for financial assistance to help with any aspects of their studies. Applications should be submitted through the Director of Studies in the first instance.
Dick Haywood Fund
The fund exists to provide bursaries or general financial assistance to students studying in the field of international relations. Priority will be given to students who wish to participate in the University's Global Security Programme. Junior Members should apply through the Senior Tutor. A statement of the proposed course of study and estimated expenses should be included.
Cuthbert/Edwards Fund
The fund exists to support medical or veterinary electives and other medical and veterinary educational objectives of current or former undergraduate or graduate students of the College prior to their entry on the Medical Register or the Veterinary Register. Junior Members should apply through the Senior Tutor. A statement of the proposed course of study and estimated expenses should be included.
Environmental Studies Fund
The fund exists to support both undergraduates and postgraduates engaged in academic study related to Environmental Studies with a preference for those working in the areas of Plant Science, Geography, Conservation Biology, Ecology and Zoology. Junior Members should apply through the Senior Tutor. A statement of the proposed course of study and estimated expenses should be included.
