 Profile

I am an historian of late seventeenth- and eighteenth-century Britain.  My doctoral dissertation examined the growth of religious toleration after 1660.  I am now studying the religious roots of eighteenth-century reformist and radical movements.  I teach eighteenth-century British history, Historical Argument and Practice, and Tripos revision classes.  I have been closely involved with the Fitzwilliam College History Society for a number of years.

My research focuses on languages of political and religious debate, and how these shape and are shaped by historical circumstances.  My interests are methodological as well as historical.
