Last week Fitzwilliam law alumni and current students enjoyed a fascinating lecture by Lady Justice Asplin on the topic of 'What Now for Justice?'. The lecture explored whether AI-powered tools can play a valuable role in alternative dispute resolution, boosting efficiency and offering deeper insights, and where caution should be exercised. Many thanks to Herbert Smith Freehills for hosting us and providing a warm welcome to some of our current law students.

Thursday's Fitzelerate Final saw 7 teams and 21 students pitch an entrepreneurial idea to a panel of 5 expert judges. The two winning teams were Dropcode, a microfluidics imaging startup founded by Max Barysevich (2016 Chemical Engineering via Nat Sci; 2020 PhD Chemical Engineering) and Elliot Medcalf, who received £1,500 towards their business and Threads and Needles, an online tailoring and customisable fashion marketplace, founded by Mengchu Liu (2020, History and Philosophy of Science) and Brodie Knight (2022, Economics) who received £3,500. Fitzelerate is Fitzwilliam College’s annual student entrepreneurship competition designed to provide an opportunity for Fitzwilliam students to develop or enhance their skills and experience in an increasingly entrepreneurial world.
