Leon began studying History in 2017, and chose to study at Fitz due to its history of access.
I did not come from a background in which anyone had attended University, let alone Oxbridge. Most of my family have few educational qualifications and are from a low socio-economic background and area.
When I was applying to Cambridge, Fitz stood out as a community in which anyone of any background was welcome. I had read that the college had a history of access and providing opportunity to those from "non traditional" Cambridge backgrounds, and it just seemed like an incredibly inclusive and friendly environment compared to others. Also, I was particularly by inspired by alumni like Andy Burnham, a successful politician from my local area who was given the chance to go to Cambridge through Fitz and subsequently thrived.
