Scholarships and prizes

Graduate Scholarships

Fitzwilliam College offers a fully-funded PhD Studentship and two fully-funded Masters Studentships, as well as several part-cost Scholarships.

In addition, there are a number of College Scholarships, which are available to students who have received an unconditional offer of a place from Fitzwilliam.

Academic merit is the main criteria for all scholarships, other criteria may apply to individual awards.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR MASTERS DEGREES


THE HONG LEONG - LEE KUAN YEW MASTERS SCHOLARSHIP (one-year courses starting in Michaelmas only)

Value: Fully-funded (fees and maintenance).

Details: Applicants are also required to apply for available match-funding schemes within the University and their Department.

Apply online before 7 December 2018 for 2019 entry. Shortlisted candidates will be notified in February with interviews to be held (in person, or via Skype) in early March.


FITZWILLIAM MASTERS STUDENTSHIP (one-year courses starting in Michaelmas only)

Value: Fully-funded (fees and maintenance).

Criteria:

-Fitzwilliam must be the applicant's first choice on the University application form.

-Includes all full-time one year Masters courses, with the exception of MBA, MFin and PGCE

Apply online before 31 March. Interviews will be late April, results available by the end of May.


FITZWILLIAM COLLEGE CHARLTON PART-COST STUDENTSHIPS (one-year courses only)

Value: Varies - up to £9000. 

Criteria:

-Fitzwilliam must be the applicant's first choice on the University application form

-Includes all full-time one year Masters courses, with the exception of MBA, MFin and PGCE

Apply online before 31 March.  Application for the Masters Studentship gives automatic consideration for the Charlton Part-Cost Studentships.Interviews will be late April, results available by the end of May.


PETER WILSON ESTATES GAZETTE SCHOLARSHIPS

Value: 4 x £3000 awards..

Details: MPhil only - all courses offered by the Department of Land Economy. One of the Scholarships will be prioritised for a Fitzwilliam undergraduate student who is applying for MPhil in Cambridge. Applicants must have an offer of a place on the course, and also of Fitzwilliam College membership, by the closing date.

Apply online before 31 March. Results available first week in July. 


ROBERT LETHBRIDGE SCHOLARSHIP IN MODERN LANGUAGES

Value: One award of £1250/year.

Details: MPhil only - all courses offered by the MML Faculty.  Applicants must have an offer of a place on the course, and also of Fitzwilliam College membership, by the closing date.

 Apply online before 31 March. Results available first week of July. 


FIZWILLIAM SOCIETY JRW ALEXANDER LAW BOOK GRANTS

Value: £100.

Details: All students starting the LLM or MCL course at Fitzwilliam receive a Law Book grant in the form of book tokens.

Application: No application is necessary.


SCHOLARSHIPS FOR PHD

THE KUOK FAMILY - LEE KUAN YEW PhD SCHOLARSHIP (three years starting in Michaelmas only)

Value: Fully-funded (fees and maintenance).

Details: The scheme guarantees a full funding package for the successful student, for three years, subject to annual review. Applicants are required to apply for available match-funding schemes within the University and their Department.

LEATHERSELLERS' GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

Value: £3,500/year.

Criteria :

-Home graduates from a British University.

-PhD (including PhD probationary) students in years 1-3 years

-Physical or Biological Sciences, Mathematics students also eligible.

Apply online before 13 June. Results available first week of July.  


COLLEGE GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

Value: £1,250/year.

Details: Arts students may be preferred. PhD (including PhD probationary) students only. 1-3 years, yearly re-application required. The results will be available in mid-November. This scholarship may not be used towards the financial undertaking required for admission to the course.

Apply online before 25 September.  Applications are currently CLOSED and will re-open on 1st June 2018


E D DAVIES SCHOLARSHIP

Value: £1,250/year.

Details: PhD (including PhD probationary) students only. 1-3 years, yearly re-application required. Three scholarships available. The results will be available in mid-November. This scholarship may not be used towards the financial undertaking required for admission to the course.

GIBSON SCHOLARSHIP*

Value: £1,000/year.    

Details: Intention to work towards a doctorate in New Testament Studies required. Students naming Fitzwilliam as first choice preferred. 1-3 years.The results will be available in mid-November. This scholarship may not be used towards the financial undertaking required for admission to the course.

HIRST-PLAYER SCHOLARSHIP*

Value: £2,000 maximum.    

Details: Students needing assistance with fees, who would otherwise be unable to study at Cambridge, eligible only. Intention to take Holy Orders in a Christian Church preferred. 1-2 years. The results will be available in mid-November. This scholarship may not be used towards the financial undertaking required for admission to the course.

SHIPLEY SCHOLARSHIP*

Value: £1,250.    

Details: Intention to undertake research in the Faculty of Divinity required. Exceptionally, research on a theological topic in another faculty also accepted. One year only. The results will be available in mid-November. This scholarship may not be used towards the financial undertaking required for admission to the course.
