Fitzwilliam Chamber Opera

Fitzwilliam Chamber Opera, the only permanent college-based opera group in Cambridge, offers singers and instrumentalists from Fitzwilliam and the University as a whole the chance to perform opera under the close guidance of leading professional musicians.

Its inaugural production, Handel's Xerxes, took place in November 2007 in Fitzwilliam Auditorium, conducted by Fitzwilliam music student Fergus Macleod, with an orchestra led by the Fitzwilliam String Quartet. Humphrey Burton CBE, the eminent broadcaster and musical biographer and a Fitzwilliam alumnus, is Patron of Fitzwilliam Chamber Opera.
