Student parents

Fitzwilliam, and the University Child Care Office are here to provide assistance to you while you are studying at the University. The Graduate Officer (Mrs Sue Free) is our Childcare Contact and she can help ensure that arrival, orientation and social, pastoral and academic events are accessible to all student parents. The MCR, along with the Childcare Contact, will play in a role in organising child-friendly events to enable student parents to meet, as well as facilitate communications between them.

Freedom of Speech

The College policy on Freedom of Speech can be found in Appendix 7 of the College Regulations.


The College does not tolerate sexual or racial harassment of any student, member of staff or other employee of the College or any visitor to the College. We subscribe to the University's 'Breaking the Silence' policy.

If you experience or witness any incidence of harassment or misconduct, please be assured that the College will support you in challenging such behaviour. Support is available within the College, from the University’s specialist Sexual Assault and Harassment Advisor, and from external organisations. For a rapid response in an emergency situation, dial 999.


The University and Colleges have a statutory duty to have 'due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism'. This is commonly known as the Prevent Duty (Section 26 of the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015). It is primarily about safeguarding students and staff and includes a range of responsibilities in areas such as pastoral care, support for staff and students, procedures for arranging events and using facilities.
