Another record-breaking phone campaign
This year’s telephone fundraising campaign, which took place from 10 to 23 April, ended with more than £256,000 pledged to the College over the next three years – yet another record-breaking campaign for Fitzwilliam.
Many of the donations made by alumni will support our students directly by providing bursaries to assist them in their studies and in making the most of their time at Cambridge. This financial support helps to encourage brilliant students with the potential to go on to achieve great things, but who might otherwise be put off by the cost of a degree. Thanks in a large measure to the generosity of alumni, the College was able to make 1,119 financial awards to our students last year.
The campaign saw 13 student callers speak to more than 500 alumni over the two-week period, and also resulted in the students gaining valuable careers advice. Some conversations lasted well over an hour, and many stories were exchanged about how Fitzwilliam has changed over the years.
The telephone campaign’s organiser Hannah Ellis-Jones said: “I’m really proud of the student calling team, they worked incredibly hard. Thank you so much to the hundreds of alumni who spoke to the students, for both their time and generosity.”
