Fitz student Savannah Adeniyan, the LGBT+ Officer, organised the first LGBT+ History Month Formal in College on Saturday 25 February.

Fitzwilliam College marked the start of LGBT+ History Month with the display of two rainbow flags on Storey’s Way and Huntingdon Road on 1 February.

The flag display was organised by the College’s LGBT+ Officer, Savannah Adeniyan (English 2014), who also arranged a special Formal Hall last week to mark the end of the celebrations.

More than 100 guests from both Fitzwilliam and neighbouring ‘hill colleges’ attended the dinner, for which the College’s Executive Head Chef, Richard Wayman, prepared a special rainbow cake for dessert.

Savannah Adeniyan said: “I'm very proud to be Fitzwilliam's current LGBT+ officer, and between displaying rainbow flags on 1 February and hosting an LGBT+ formal both for the first time ever, I believe we've had a great celebration of LGBT+ History Month this year. Fitzwilliam was established on a foundation of diversity and access, and I hope that this tradition continues in future celebrations of LGBT+ diversity.”
