Four in a row for Fitz cricketers

Fitzwilliam’s cricketers celebrated a fourth successive Cuppers win with an eight-wicket victory over Emmanuel at Fenner’s on Thursday.

Captain Tom Corner hit the winning runs in his unbeaten 37, after Fitzwilliam put Emmanuel into bat.

Ted While took three wickets for 10 runs and Toby Hiram two for eight, while Max Burrows – Fitzwilliam’s double-winning football captain – took a fine catch on the boundary as Emmanuel were all out for 86 in the 20-over game.

Oli Taylor (24) – like Corner a constant in the victorious teams of 2016, 2017 and 2018 – opened the batting with Julian Wreford (18) and set a strong foundation before Hiram (13 not out) and Corner completed the win.

Corner said: “It’s been a brilliant four years. It’s great to finish an unbeaten four years with a fantastic performance from a great team.”

Team: Tom Corner, Oli Taylor, Max Burrows, Nathan McStay, Julian Wreford, Jake Marshall, Ted While, Sam North, Toby Hiram, Ben Roberts, Omar Hatteea.
