Professor Bhaskar Vira appointed Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education

Professor Bhaskar Vira, Fitzwilliam College Fellow and Graduate Tutor, and current Head of the Department of Geography, has been appointed Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education for three years, with effect from 1 October 2022 when Professor Graham Virgo’s term of office ends.

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education leads the development and implementation of strategy and policy relating to education.

The five Pro-Vice-Chancellors (whose number also includes Fitzwilliam Fellow, Professor David Cardwell, PVC for Strategy and Planning) provide academic leadership to the University and support the Vice-Chancellor. They work as a team with the Heads of the Schools, the Registrary, the Chief Financial Officer and other senior colleagues, to ensure that the University maintains and enhances its contribution to society and its global academic standing.
