Professor M S Swaminathan

The College was saddened to hear of the death of Honorary Fellow, Professor M S Swaminathan, who passed away at the age of 98 this week.

Professor Swaminathan, an eminent crop geneticist and often called the 'father of India's Green Revolution', last visited Fitzwilliam in May 2018. On this occasion he delivered a fascinating lecture 'Cambridge and Beyond: from Green to Evergreen Revolution', which drew together strands from his early academic work to the culmination of his achievements.
