The JCR Shadowing Scheme is an annual event aimed at one of our Link Areas. This year, Year 12 state school students from Hammersmith and Fulham are invited to apply to the event which takes place on 15-17 November 2018. The deadline for applications is 15 October.
The Fitzwilliam College JCR Shadowing Scheme offers state-educated students the opportunity to come to Cambridge for three days between 15-17 November. We will pair you up with a current Fitzwilliam student, whom you will accompany to lectures, classes and social activities, to see what student life at Cambridge is really like (hint: it’s a lot of fun!). It's a fantastic opportunity to get a taste of what it would be like to study your subject at a top university, experiencing typical undergraduate teaching at the University of Cambridge. You will stay in accommodation at Fitzwilliam and eat in our canteen. The entire scheme is free of charge and we will reimburse reasonable travel costs.
The event is open to students starting Year 12 in September 2018 who attend a state-maintained school in Hammersmith or Fulham. We aim to select applicants with the academic potential to apply to top universities, but who lack family experience of higher education or may not otherwise get a chance to learn about university life. Successful applicants will be required to submit a further consent form, signed by a parent/guardian and teacher, and a code of conduct, signed by the applicant.
To apply, please fill in the webform at www.fitz.cam.ac.uk/shadowing by 15 October. Upon completion of this form, we will ask a teacher and parent/guardian to complete another form on behalf of the applicant.
