School visit to Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge

School visits and opportunities

Visits to Fitzwilliam

Schools and colleges are encouraged to arrange visits to Fitzwilliam through our SLO. If we are unable to accommodate your request for a visit or tour, we will redirect you to another college or other events open to your students. If your school falls outside our Link Areas of Cheshire, Cumbria, and Hammersmith and Fulham, we may ask your Link College to host your visit instead.

Visits to the College can be arranged for any time and we will always try to accommodate a school or college's schedule.

Visits may include:

    •    Tours of the College and the city
    •    Talk from an Admissions Tutor or SLO
    •    Subject 'taster' sessions
    •    Visits to faculty museums
    •    Tailored presentations
    •    Question and Answer sessions with current students

With groups that would struggle to visit Cambridge just for the day, whether due to distance, disability or otherwise, we can offer some accommodation outside the Undergraduate Residential Period. This must be arranged with the SLO, with as much advance notice as possible.

We really would like to offer the opportunity to visit the College to as many students, teachers and parents as possible, so if you have particular requests for different activities or suggestions for new initiatives please do not hesitate to get in touch

Visits to your school

The Schools Liaison Officer can travel to your school or college at your request and run workshops, information sessions, and other activities.

Visits to your institution can be as long or short as you want them, for any number students from Year 7 upwards. Presentations and workshops can be tailored to meet individual needs and cover a wide range of topics, such as student finance, the Cambridge admissions process, life at Cambridge, raising aspirations, or how to choose a College or subject.

Of course, if you've already got an event organised - perhaps a Careers evening, a HE information event, or an Oxbridge conference - then we'd be happy to come and take part.

We are also eager for as many teachers, parents and advisors as possible to have access to these events and so the SLO is more than happy to run events in the evenings or lunchtimes.

If you would like to arrange a visit then please contact We cannot guarantee that a visit will be possible but we will certainly try our best!

Individual visits

The SLO is regularly available to offer tours to prospective applicants. Where possible, we will try to arrange tours of the college from current students. If you would like a tour, or would like to speak to the SLO or Admissions Tutors please contact the SLO ahead of time. Visitors are welcome to tour Fitzwilliam at times when the College is open to visitors, but we cannot guarantee that someone will be available to speak to.

Travel and accommodation

We appreciate that for some visitors a day-trip to Cambridge is not feasible, due to cost, distance or disability. In such cases, we endeavor to provide suitable accommodation or travel assistance for visitors, on a case-by-case basis. If you require assistance in these matters, please contact the SLO to arrange your visit.
