Medics and Vets Mentorship Scheme

01 March 2024 - 30 September 2024 | 9:00 - 16:00 |
Online

Calling all prospective medics and vets!

The Fitzwilliam College Medicine and Veterinary Medicine Society at the University of Cambridge is launching its student mentorship scheme for the second time in March 2024. Please note, this is a slight change from the originally scheduled programme start date. You will be paired up with another two prospective students and mentored by a current medicine or veterinary medicine student, who will deliver personalised mentorship on areas of application including the admissions process, personal statement, aptitude tests and interview. During this, you will gain an insight into what it is to study medicine or veterinary medicine at one of the top universities in the country.

The mentorship scheme will run from March to September 1st, with plenty of flexibility between mentor and mentees to decide what they would like the partnership to cover. The scheme is open to students who are currently in Year 12 (England and Wales), S5 (Scotland) or Year 13 (Northern Ireland). We will prioritise places for students who meet widening participation criteria, using the Cambridge Admissions Office guidelines to complete selection.

Our mentors are friendly, approachable, and enthusiastic about helping prospective students access an education in medicine or veterinary medicine, supporting you during what can often be a daunting and difficult process, and allaying worries about studying at an institution like Cambridge. To apply for a place on the scheme, simply fill out this application form by 12pm on Wednesday 14th of February, and we will be in touch with all applicants shortly after the closing date.
