Year 11 BME Programme - Visit Day
What is it?
As part of our Y11 BME Taster Programme, we are offering students the chance to visit us in Cambridge, and find out more about life as a student at the University of Cambridge.
Students will be given tours by current undergraduates, and will have the chance to ask them questions about life at university. They will be given a choice for which taster lecture they attend (STEM/Humanities/Social Sciences), and will get to take part in a "Big Questions" Workshop, where they will focus on developing the critical thinking skills required for successful Cambridge applications. Finally, students will have time to ask questions about their next steps, following a short presentation about strong A-Level choices.
The In-Person Event will be on the 1st of July. The day will run from 10:00am-15:30pm. Students will be provided lunch on the day.

Who is it for?
The day is for Y11 students who are from an under-represented ethnic group. Please see eligibility criteria for further details.

Eligibility criteria
In order to be eligible, students must meet both of the following criteria
- Are in Year 11
- Are from an under-represented ethnic group, these include:
- Black African and Black Caribbean
- Pakistani and Bangladeshi
- Gypsy, Roma and Traveller
Places for individuals will be prioritised for students who meet any of the following criteria:
- Are care experienced
- Have been eligible for Free School Meals (at any point in the last six years)
- Are, or have been, an asylum seeker or refugee
- Have significant caring responsibilities
- Are estranged from close family members
- Live in an area of low progression to higher education (POLAR4)
- Live in an area of high deprivation (IMD)
- Attend a low-performing sixth form
- Attend/attended a low-performing GCSE school
- Are from any background or region of the UK which is under-represented at the University of Cambridge
- Have had any other personal circumstances that have disrupted your education
